President Paul Kagame has denied Hotel Rwanda hero was kidnapped.

He said that the man who inspired a Hollywood film about the 1994 genocide,Paul Rusesabagina returned to the country of his own accord before being arrested for murder and terrorism.

Paul Rusesabagina was arrested abroad in an unnamed location on international warrant last week. The family believes he was “kidnapped ” during a visit to Dubai and that he would never knowingly have boarded a plane for Rwanda’s capital, Kigali.

Paul Rusesabagina was arrested for leading “terrorist movements”, officials say.

“He got here on the basis of what he believed and wanted to do. It’s like dialing and wanted to call somebody & finding you have called a wrong number”, the president said

Paul Rusesabagina, a Hutu, became well known after Hotel Rwanda depicted his efforts to save hundreds of Tutsis at his hotel during the 1994 genocide.
