Since the first reported case of covid-19 in late December 2019, the virus has spread to over 175 countries; and yet, a few countries have not reported any case.

Lesotho is the only country out of 54 countries in Africa that has not seen any case of Coronavirus, according to Worldometer figures.

Despite sharing borders with South Africa, which has the highest covid-19 case ( above 4996), Lesotho has yet to officially record a case.

The WHO African region had stated that there was no official reports of confirmed covid-19 cases in Lesotho, as at end of April.

The mountainous country has a population of only 2.1million.

This virus has already taken its toll on about 3,660,304 people, killing about 252,682 while 1,204,025 recoveries has been recorded, according to Worldometer figures.

Aside Lesotho, 12 other countries are yet to also record any case of the virus.

These countries, (according to data from John Hopkins University) are not captured on Worldometer Coronavirus latest report.

However, World Health Organization (WHO) in a report had stated that since the SARs-like virus was an evolving phenomenon, there was no fixed way to determine why a country has or does not have covid-19.

Furthermore, it argued that countries that banned China ( where the virus sprang up) from entering have reported the case.

But it strongly recommended that countries comply with public health advisory on covid-19 as it was part of the scientific ways of flattening the curve.

“As the epidemic evolves, it will be expected that many areas may detect imported cases and local transmission of COVID-19.

“The outbreaks reported so far have occurred primarily within clusters of cases exposed through close-contacts, within families or special gathering events.

“COVID-19 is primarily transmitted through droplets from, and close contact with, infected individuals,” WHO maintained.

No covid-19 case have been officially announced or reported in North Korea, although some analysts argue that the nation was trying to cover it up.

Also, North Korea (being among the first to place travel restrictions) had shut its country, suspended tourism, quarantined every visitor and closed it border with China, prior to the shutting down of Wuhan by Chinese Government on January 23.

KIRIBATI, TONGA, NAURU, TUVALU, MARSHALL ISLANDS, MICRONESIA, PALAU, SAMOA, SOLOMON ISLANDS, VANUATU

These ten countries with no covid-19 case are all located in Oceania, a continent renown for vast islands.

The country with the highest population is Solomon Islands (686,000), the other countries have as low as 10,000 population.

The United States embassy in those countries, noted that they announced entry restrictions for travelers from countries with ongoing local transmission of COVID-19; and placed visitors on compulsory quarantine or deportation.

Visitations to these countries are relatively low, but is usually a point of call for tourists.

LESOTHO

Lesotho is the only African country which has not reported a single case of COVID-19, according to Worldometer figures.

Analysts disagree with the Covid-19 status of Lesotho on the grounds that the country is surrounded by South Africa, which has the highest covid-19 case ( above 4996).

The country has been on lockdown for one month.

TURKMENISTAN

The country, located in Central Asia has no confirmed COVID-19 cases in Turkmenistan.

However, analysts argue that the country’s government is hiding information about the virus, and that the true situation is not been reported.
